What to wear for your photoshoot with your Pet

THIS is a topic I’m super super excited to talk about! I can’t stress this enough >>> how much difference a good and comfortable outfit makes to your photoshoot session!

For most of us, dressing ourselves in the morning is hard enough even when we don’t have to stand in front of a camera and be our best selves. Choosing what to wear for a photoshoot can trigger even the most confident fashionista to pull their entire wardrobe out onto the floor in search of the perfect outfit.

WISE WORDS INCOMING … You should look and feel like yourself, so choose something from your closet that you know you feel great in. Being comfortable is everything when it comes to a home or adventure session.

Avoid big, complicated patterns, logos, or bright colors that will take the attention away from your pet. Remember you are not doing this alone! So go for colours that complement their coats. Aim for earthy tones, natural fabrics, beautiful textures, and clothing that moves with you. Think cream, mustard, terracotta, sage, camel in linen, chiffon, pleated fabrics. Trust us on this, these colours and textures work really well for pet sessions, be it indoors or outdoors!

Of course, a simple sweatshirt if you are sweat-proof in humid Singapore and trendy athleisure in dusty hues work too.

And when it comes to studio sessions or editorial-style shoots, like the upcoming (ahem) APAWTAMENTO, go wild baby. You could come in a structured vest or blazer, a maxi dress, a fully sequinned outfit (I dare you!), full denim on denim, print on print. The options are endless. But yes, still remember, choose your colours to complement your pet AND the styled set.

For APAWTAMENTO, we’d definitely recommend neutral tones to go with the modern midcentury tones, heck you could even come in your wedding suit and gown if you want! Yes, I said it!

FOR THE LADIES …

FOR THE GUYS …

FOR THE DOGS …

Similarly, for the puppers, keep things simple and minimal! Let their natural colours shineeeee.

So if your nerves start to fizz when you think about what to wear, don’t worry. This is SUPER normal! If all else fails, remember you’ll never go wrong with basics from MUJI, Uniqlo, COS. Or you know, your wedding outfit. All you have to do is match the colours.

These are just some suggestions for you to start with. Hopefully it’s enough information to answer any questions you may have, but I’m here for you if you want a second opinion on any outfit ideas! Any other things you’d like to discuss, drop us a DM.
